Have you ever heard of the French Paradox?
The French Paradox suggests that the French have a remarkable lower incidence of Heart Disease when compared to American’s despite their high fat diets. Upon further investigation researchers agreed that there was something in Wine that offered protection. Today, that substance has been identified as resveratrol.
Resveratrol is found in high concentration in the skin of Red Grapes and the resveratrol in these grapes appears to play a role in protecting them from invading bacteria and fungi.
Further research into the benefits of resveratrol suggests that it might do more than protect the heart. In high concentration it is believed that it could extend life by preventing a number of age related illnesses, giving people a decade or two of healthy old age.
Although the pill may not extend the life span it is hoped that it will prevent the diseases of aging such as Alzheimers, Diabetes, Heart Disease, and Cancer by activating the bodies natural defenses against diseases.
But do we really want to take a prescription drug to slow down the aging process? And further more doesn’t that seem like an oxymoron anyway. It does to me!
